At Sunbird & Sable, our Collections focus on pre-loved products of good, original quality and condition – well taken care of and with minimal wear – as well as handcrafted and individually produced pieces. As such, any unique characteristics or subtle markings inherent in the handmade nature, raw materials or history of items should be enjoyed.
We aim to provide shoppers with competitively priced, affordable ranges, which are both appealing and accessible. Our pricing is in keeping with the condition and rarity of items, and any distinguishing marks, signatures or associated provenance which may enhance the value. ‘Collectible’ – when we describe an item as collectible on our website, we consider it to be an object suitable for a collection, and collected for display, as a past time, or as an investment whose value may appreciate.
‘Antique’ – when we describe an item as antique, we consider it to be a collectible to have been created more than 100 years ago.
‘Vintage’ – when we describe an item as vintage, we consider it to be a collectible over 20 years old, and to exhibit the styles of the era in which it was created, including the art deco design style.
‘Retro’ – when we describe an item as retro, we consider it to have been created to exhibit or imitate the style characteristics of a bygone era which existed before the item was made.
‘Modern’ – when we describe an item as modern, we consider it to have been created within the 20th century, or to exhibit the characteristics of the minimalist modern and mid-century modern design styles.
‘Contemporary’ – when we describe an item as contemporary, we consider it to exhibit contemporary design characteristics, or the design style of the present time.
‘Traditional’ – when we describe an item as traditional, we consider it to exhibit traditional design characteristics, or the classic design style.
The Sunbird & Sable Designers Studio retails a collection of brand new, custom manufactured soft furnishings and features limited edition signature decorative accents, retailed straight from our own cutting tables. We showcase a selection of one-off designs and seasonal pieces, production samples, end of line and commercial over-runs, as well as end of roll fabrics and décor items. Choose from a range of designer cushions, throws, bed and bath linens, table linen and plush accessories.

To proceed with an order, we will forward you a quotation and check stock availability, and should you wish to go ahead, payments are accepted via EFT. Collection of purchases may be booked and scheduled from our Store Room in Salt River, Cape Town or we will gladly arrange for your order to be posted, couriered or freighted should you prefer.
